Dennis Anderson MA LPC CACIII Dennis has been practicing psychotherapy in Colorado Springs since graduating from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in 1988. After earning his Master’s degree, Dennis began working at Penrose Hospital in the adolescent treatment program as a psych tech and weekend family therapist (1989 through 1992). While working at Penrose he completed a two year family therapy training internship under the supervision of Chad Glang PhD. In May of 1989 Dennis joined the team at Confidential Health Consultants (CHC) (1989 through 1997) as coordinator of Alcohol Education and Treatment and Family Therapist under the supervision of John Shethar PhD. While at CHC, Dennis developed curriculum for the education of DUI offenders and conducted both DUI therapy and education groups and aftercare group therapy for post inpatient treatment individuals. In addition to group work, Dennis conducted marriage and family therapy and individual therapy for clients in intensive outpatient therapy at CHC. In November of 1989 Dennis returned to the Counseling Center at the University of Colorado (UCCS) (1989 through 2003) to work as Lead Counselor in Student Support Services under the supervision of Catherine James PhD. Dennis worked at CHC and the UCCS Counseling Center. Dennis and Catherine worked together for 17 years in a variety of settings until Catherine retired in 2004. Dennis worked at UCCS for 14 years, providing personal counseling to students, faculty, and staff. In 1997 Dennis left CHC to open his own clinic, Psychotherapy Services. In the ten years of its’ existence, Psychotherapy Services, now Psychotherapy Services P.C., has grown from a part time private practice subletting office space to a full time clinic with a staff of two full time counselors and two part time counselors. In June 2006, in support of the Global War on Terror, Dennis began consulting for the Department of Defense. Since then, he has performed consulting services for United States Army soldiers and family members as they continue to adjust to stresses related to deployment and redeployment.
Scheila Dennin MA, NCC, CACIII Scheila is currently the Director of Clinical Services at Psychotherapy Services, P.C. She graduated from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in 2006 with her Master’s in Counseling and Human Services. She specializes in using a motivational approach to assist individuals with chemical misuse, abuse, and dependencies, as well as, treating individuals with life traumas. She currently facilitates Level II Education and Group Therapy as well as performing individual, couples, and family counseling sessions. Furthermore, she has been involved in assisting individuals with grief, loss, and end of life issues for a local hospice. Her involvement in hospice gives Scheila the ability to focus on individuals not events when working with clients with a variety of issues and stressors. Scheila is active in her professional organizations. She is currently the Ethics Chair for the Colorado Counseling Association, Treasurer for the Colorado Licensed Professional Counselor Association, and is appointed to the American Counseling Associations Task Force for Military Members and Their Families. She has lectured at the local, state, and national levels concerning addictions, theoretical approaches, co-dependency, co-occurring disorders, and other topics. She is passionate about her work; therefore, she believes it is essential to be active within her professional organizations. Scheila is married with four children and three grandchildren. Her colorful life experiences help her relate with the clients that enter this agency. She is non-judgmental and non-biased when it comes to her passion to assist those recovering from their addictions and other life stressors. Scheila believes that being open-minded is the key to a successful therapeutic relationship with the individuals she counsels.
Deborah French, MA NCC Deborah received her Masters degree in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in May 2007. Following 22 years in the health care industry, Deb brings a variety of work and life experiences to her counseling practice. Deb has also worked at the Colorado Springs Pregnancy Center as a crisis counselor. She is currently pursuing her certification as an addictions counselor. Deb’s primary interests lay in providing family therapy with a faith-based foundation.
